A CASED 54-BORE PERCUSSION SELF-COCKING FIVE-SHOT REVOLVER, MODEL 'TRANTERS DOUBLE-TRIGGER', serial no. 4135T,
circa 1854, with octagonal 6 1/4in. barrel, engraved band at muzzle and scroll engraving at breech, the border engraved top-strap signed 'DEANE & SON, 30 KING WILLIAM ST LONDON BRIDGE', plain borderline engraved cylinder with rope-twist engraved band to front edge and small panels of scroll engraving over each chamber, borderline and scroll engraved solid frame, chequered walnut grip with moulded and engraved iron pommel-cap and Tranter's Patent detachable rammer mounted to the left hand side of barrel, complete with an American? market wood case with radiused corners, the interior lined and compartmented with green baize and containing a period cleaning rod, patent bullet mould, square oil bottle, cap tin, ivory handled turn-screw and nipple-key and a later bag-shaped flask, the exterior of lid with engraved silver escutcheon reading 'DEANE & SON, 30 KING WILLIAM ST, LONDON BRIDGE
